Rogue Faculty Press was conceived in 2011 by two high school teachers who, during the course of many long conversations about the nature of art, began mulling over the idea of a vehicle.
Then, one bleak winter's day, over strong coffee, these two teachers decided that, as teachers of the arts, they better practice what they had, for over a decade, been preaching.
The press was born.
They decided to name it Rogue Faculty Press for a number of reasons. The New Oxford Dictionary describes the word "rogue," in part, as a "playful term of reproof." The two teachers liked that.
The NOD also declares that a rogue is "a person who behaves in a faulty way." That sounded more accurate.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to, but not limited to, publishing the work of teachers.
We will seek out projects that celebrate teachers whose talent might be ignored or overlooked.
We will put ourselves in the service of artists and writers who demonstrate great motivation and insight into the projects they are willing to attempt.
We will move slowly and carefully.
We will learn from our mistakes.
We promise to try to do no harm.
Finally, because this press is a labor of love as much as anything else, we will be humble enough to seek out the expertise of those who know more than we do.
